The World Around You

Most of us grew up or live with the notion that we are individuals, separate from others, the environment, nature and God.

In some cases, you may have been taught that you are part of a small group – whether is a religious, cultural, national, racial, etc. – that you owe respect solely to or whose rules are the only ones you should follow.

Other than that, you may think that you are simply an individual part of the whole universe around you, that you have no relationship with your neighbor, the guy who serves you coffee every morning, the billions of people you don’t know, animals, plants, air and the rest of the universe.

It is part of our nature as humans, to search for achievements and meet goals. But what some of you may be missing is your connection with those goals, those achievements and successes that life has already created for you but that you have not yet seen materialized in your life.

There may be many reasons why you are still detached from anything that you are searching for in this lifetime. The main one is the fact that you still think those things you want the most do not belong to you already, that they are not part of you.

Think about anything at all and you can find the connection the person, thing or idea has with you. To give you an example, think about any piece of clothes you are wearing. Think about the color, the texture, the shape, etc. Now think about where the garment came from, did you buy it in the store or perhaps it was a gift?

Now think about the person who sold it to you or the person who months ago worked on creating this piece of clothing. Now think about where the materials came from. Was someone else involved in the creation of the fabric, which then passed it on to the person who sawed it into what it is today?

Then, think about the ship or truck it traveled to get to the store where you bought them. What about the people involved in distributing and delivering the clothes to the store where it was purchased? They did their work and made money, who is made of paper that comes from trees and other plants.

With this money, we can buy fruits and vegetables and other foods to provide for ourselves and our families. You can make a connection with everything around you or even things that are far away from you.

We are all connected with others and to the world around us.
